Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah is a New York Times Bestselling author. Hannah has written a number of books, I counted 14, all lovingly written about the various relationships you are born into or develop during the course of daily life.

Yesterday I started reading Magic Hour and couldn't go to bed until I finished it. The story immediately pulls you in with Dr. Julia Cates as she faces the cruel media. We soon learn how Julia's life has been changed by the media and speculation. When Julia's sister asks for help regarding a 5-7 year old "wild child," Julia leaves LA and discovers a girl who needs Julia's expertise and love. Julia also connects with a sister who has also been the "beauty queen."

This book and others by Kristin Hannah pulls you into the relationship between family, friends, and those you have picked to add to your family.

The Blue Hole by Rolland Love

On Wednesday, March 14, at 5:00 pm author Rolland Love will be joining our Mystery Book Club to discuss his book The Blue Hole.

Rolland Love, a Kansas City area author, grew up in the Ozarks, where this novel is set. It is the 1950's and two brothers are going on their last camping trip before school starts. On their way to their camping site, the two boys encounter a number of bizarre characters and dangerous situations. The situation only gets more suspensful when something is discovered floating in the Blue Hole.

I'm not a fan, but there was something about this book that reminded me of Mark Twain's stories.
