Audio Books are Fun & Easy!
Summer is here and that means many people will be going to all kinds of places. One of the best things you can do is come to the library and check out the audio books, because they can make a short trip too short and a long trip shorter.
If are hesitant to try an audio book, because you may miss part of the story, start with a book you read a couple of years ago. Or you can start with a book written for younger readers. I actually find I enjoy the books for younger readers more.

"The Bloodstone Chronicles" by Bill Myers

Yesterday, I finished listening to this audio book. This is a dramatized version of four inspirational books for youth. It reminded me of The Chronicles of Narnia, and I enjoyed it on my short drive to work.
The four books are about 3 young teens who make friends with some guys from another planet. These new friends repeatedly help the "up-side-downers" (earthlings) learn more about "imager" and get out of trouble.
"Merian C. Cooper's King Kong"
by Jor DeVito and Brad Strikcland

This was a great audio book. It was read by David Baker and a full cast. The full cast made a great difference. Having the different voices for the characters and the added music in places set the mood for this book.
It is not a long audio book, 6.75 hours. There were only a couple of places that the book dragged, but that had more to do with the building suspense. Sometimes I didn't want to wait for the suspense to be built up, I just wanted to know what was going to happen.
If you like adventure, try this book.
"Good In Bed" by Jennifer Weiner
Listening to this book was enjoyable, because the author, Jennifer Weiner, gave the main character a lot of wry wit that was funny to listen to. Canny, short for Candice, is a large woman who finds herself written about in a national magazine article by her ex-boyfriend, Bruce. It is a column titled "Good In Bed."
This is where the novel starts, and Canny's wry wit surfaces early in the story. It is fun to see how Canny uses her wit in most situations. Including when she starts fat classes and when she trys to meet a movie star for her job as a newspaper writer who covers Hollywood.
This novel has a lot of humor, but deals with difficult family issues like divorced parents, lesbian mothers, and unplanned pregnancy.
