Along Came a Spider by James Patterson

The Mystery Book Club will be discussing this first book in the Alex Cross series on Wednesday, June 14 at 10:30 am in the Louisburg Library Conference Room.

I had never read one of the Alex Cross books, until recently. I have read other James Patterson books, just not this series. Alex Cross turned out to be a great character with a lot of depth and heart.

The book is hard to sum up into a few words, because there was so much happening and many twists. There was the kidnapper who was able to manipulate so many people and situations, all to become famous. There was the girl who was kidnapped, who was the daughter of a famous actress. There was the successful FBI agent who had been immortalized in a movie. There was the Secret Service Agent who was in the highest ranking position a female had ever been in before. For me the book was about the idea of success and fame, and how that can shape our lives.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books that keep you guessing, but also have a lot of character depth.

Happy Reading!
